1. Environmental policy

Environmental awareness is everyone’s responsibility - YOURS and MINE.
Caring for man and the environment is an integral part of our processes

We achieve this by:

  • Ensuring that our personnel are trained and skilled in focusing actively on the environment.
  • In our business, striving to choose the options that minimise the adverse impact on man and the environment.
  • Through constant improvements, making a contribution to ecologically, economically and technologically sustainable development.
  • Regarding laws and other requirements as the minimum level for the activities we conduct.
  • Actively working towards the goal that all our products are ÖkoTex certified.
  • Requiring our suppliers to understand and accept the provisions of our Code of Conduct on human rights, observance of national laws and requirements, anti-corruption measures, labour standards and environmental norms.

2. ISO 14001

We work systematically to limit our impact on the environment. Environmental awareness is a given in all our processes from the first design concept to the finished product reaching the customer.

Each year we draw up an environmental report looking at our impact from key environmental aspects. We then use this report to help us set detailed environmental objectives.

Kwintet Fristads AB has had ISO 14001 environmental accreditation since 2002.

 3. REACH (Chemicals)

Reach is an EU Regulation, Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).

REACH places responsibility on all manufacturers and importers of chemicals to identify and manage the risks that the substances they manufacture and market may pose to human health and to the environment.
Substances intentionally released from articles must be registered for that specific use if they are present in those articles in quantities over 1 tonne per producer or importer per year.
In the case of Kwintet's product portfolio, substances that may be intentionally released from articles could be, for example, in antibacterial treatment of hospital wear.
Notification of potentially dangerous substances contained in articles is required if they are present above a concentration limit of 0.1 % by weight and if more than 1 tonne per year is used in all products.

All suppliers of Kwintet must sign the Kwintet Restricted Substances List (RSL), which also includes the SVHC on ECHA’s Candidate List. By signing the document, the supplier commits to ensuring us that the articles are free from SVHC or if present, their level is below 0.1 % by weight.

Besides SVHC, the Kwintet´s Restricted Substances List (RSL) stipulates that all textile and leather products, including accessories, must meet the criteria specified in the ÖKO-TEX Standard 100, in order to be safe for people to use. Furthermore, the RSL includes chemicals that are already restricted by EU Directives – for human ecological or environmental reasons – and applicable to our product portfolio.
Kwintet’s RSL is continuously updated and always available for download from their website. Please visit Kwintet’s website (www.kwintet.com) and read more. On the website you can find the information under About Kwintet and CSR and view our restricted substances list (RSL).

4. Oeko-Tex

Oeko-Tex Standard 100 became an international measure of confidence throughout the entire textile chain back in 1992.

Oeko-Tex is the world’s leading human ecological safety label for textiles that have been tested for harmful substances – i.e. the garments do not contain any chemicals that are harmful to the wearer.

The criteria catalogue contains over 100 test parameters, and the criteria and limit values are often the most stringent in this field as they not only include substances banned or controlled by law, but also other substances that have been scientifically judged to be hazardous to health. Some of the criteria are also preventive in purpose.

Today the majority of Fristads’ products are Oeko-Tex certified. Please contact us for more information.

5. Producer responsibility for packaging

PRO EUROPE s.p.r.l. (=Packaging Recovery Organisation Europe), founded in 1995, is the umbrella organization for European packaging and recycling schemes and is the organization that administers the use of the “Green dot” logo as a symbol of producer responsibility and efficient packaging waste management.

PRO EUROPE s.p.r.l. also acts as the authoritative voice and common policy platform representing the interests of all packaging recovery and recycling organizations founded and run, by or on behalf of obliged industry.

Please visit Pro Europe’s website (http://www.pro-e.org) to learn more about this organization.

In Sweden producer responsibility for packaging, called REPA, was introduced in 1994.
REPA is connected to PRO EUROPE s.p.r.l. and the organization in Sweden that have the right to use the “Green dot”. Kwintet Fristads AB is affiliated to REPA and we report the amounts of packaging we use and pay packaging charges to REPA.

These fees are then used to finance the system of nationwide packaging collection and recycling established in Sweden.
