1. CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)
Fristads & Co is a socially and environmentally responsible company in that we aim to conduct our business in an ethical manner which is less harmful to the environment wherever our activities take place. Our CSR and Code of Conduct includes ensuring decent working conditions in the supply chain where our products are manufactured, as well as minimizing our carbon footprint and other emissions to the environment.
Being part of the Kwintet Group, Fristads & Co implements the social compliance program of Kwintet. It means that all Fristads & Co’s suppliers must sign the Kwintet Code of Conduct and be enrolled in the compliance audit and monitoring procedures. All suppliers must also sign Kwintet’s Restricted Substances List in order to comply with REACH legislation.
An important element of Kwintet’s compliance program is to ensure decent working conditions in the supply chain in collaboration with the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF); a multi stakeholder initiative that supports brands in the clothing sector with their aim of ensuring sustainable labour conditions. Kwintet’s Code of Conduct is based on FWF’s Code of Labour Practices and applied to all parts of the Group, regardless of individual business entities’ membership status. In December 2008, Kwintet’s central sourcing organization in Asia, Kwintet Far East (KFE), became a member of the Fair Wear Foundation. This means that FWF conducts verification audits at a random choice of KFE’s suppliers, as well as a Management System Audit to ensure that KFE’s sourcing practices facilitate the implementation of the Code of Conduct. Fristads & Co already sources around 80 % of its products via KFE. Since Kwintet business divisions and entities apply individually for FWF membership when they have reached a certain level of consolidation in their sourcing approach, Fristads & Co is up next and has initiated discussions to join FWF during 2010.
