Our sustainability promise

We want to make a change

We have been making quality workwear for almost 100 years. The small business that originally started in Sweden has now become a large company with a presence throughout Europe. We have continuously developed our operation and found more efficient ways to design, develop and manufacture our products. The growth of our business means that the way we interact with the world around us has become increasingly important, both as a company and as individual employees.

We want to find new ways going forward, challenging the traditional way of producing workwear and inspiring other actors within our business to follow suit. This curiosity and drive to develop more sustainable workwear is in our minds when we design a new garment, develop a new collection and test a new raw material or fibre. Continuously evolving and challenging the way we work helps us find new solutions as we strive to do better every day.

We are part of an industry in need of change

The production of textiles leads to pollution of water and air and requires natural resources such as water. Adding to the equation, textile production is an industry associated with quick changes in fashion and low-quality textiles, which contributes to the over-consumption of clothes around the world. Furthermore, it is an industry known for bad working conditions and lack of transparency. All in all, the textile industry faces many urgent environmental and social challenges. When it comes to workwear the challenge is also to secure and maintain a high and uniform quality level to provide functional and comfortable products with a long life span. We have also noted increased customer demand for traceability, transparency, performance and sustainability, which we encourage and believe will strengthen our customer dialogue.

It is clear the industry needs to increase efforts to develop sustainable solutions and we can already see signs of positive change. Many great initiatives are starting up within the industry where several actors have joined forces to make a real change. Take for example STICA, the Swedish Textile Initiative for Climate Action, which was created to make it easier for Swedish textile companies to contribute to the goals set by the UN and the Swedish government. The initiative offers national support for reducing greenhouse gases and for creating plans for making concrete progress and collaborating. This type of initiative is unique for our industry and offers hope for future sustainable developments.

Contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Our sustainability strategy aims to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals and will guide us to focus even further on those areas where we can contribute most. Three of the 17 Global Goals are of particular relevance for us. These are Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, and Partnerships for the Goals.

Responsible consumption and production
Consumption and production are closely linked, and both greatly affect the environment. For us it is important to approach more responsible production from a broad perspective, starting with decisions on what products to develop and garment design. Having said that, it is equally important for us that our products are made to last, as quality workwear that can be used for a longer time leads to fewer garments needing to be produced.

Climate action
Climate change is starting to show its effects around the world. As a company doing business in all corners of the world, we see it as our responsibility to make sure we take action to minimise our impact on the climate. By continuously evaluating our products, production, processes and logistics and always looking for alternatives with the lowest climate impact, we can reduce emissions and secure a more sustainable business operation.

Partnerships for the goals
We believe that by combining our efforts we can make a bigger change. That’s why we put a lot of effort into working together with colleagues – both within our sector and also in the field of research. We have been part of the Chemical Group led by research institute RISE since 2007, enabling the replacement of hazardous chemicals in products and processes with less hazardous alternatives. In 2019 we joined the STICA initiative and committed to lowering our emissions by 30% before 2030.

Key focus areas 2025

Sustainability is a broad area and we need to make sure we deliver not just on the environmental aspect but the human one too. In order to be able to do so and to invest in new solutions and better techniques, we need to be a profitable company. Therefore, we have divided our sustainability efforts into three focus areas covering the social, environmental and economic aspects of sustainability. For each focus area, long-term commitments have been established.

Satisfied employees
Within the social aspect we focus on taking joint responsibility for making sure that our business has a positive social impact on everyone who is involved in the operation. Key considerations are fair jobs, ethics, health, employee satisfaction and diversity. We have made two long-term commitments: Act in accordance with our Code of Ethics, and Ensure that everyone working for us has good working conditions.

Sustainable product offer & operation
We are dedicated to developing products that are manufactured in a sustainable manner in order to reduce our environmental impact. Within this aspect we our key considerations are emissions, use of resources, raw materials, dyeing methods, chemicals, use of plastic, closing the loop and transport & travel. Our long-term commitments for the environmental aspect are to Adopt circular thinking throughout the product process, and 30% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030.

Reliable partner
Within the economic aspect of sustainability, we focus on making it easy for our customers and suppliers to make better choices by being knowledgeable about issues of sustainability. That is why our focus lies on improving our knowledge and communication in the field of sustainability. Our long-term commitments are to Become the workwear industry’s experts on sustainability, and Help our customers and suppliers to fulfil their sustainability goals.
