WHAT DOES HACCP MEAN?
HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a standardised management system that describes how to systematically map, assess and control hazards in the production of food with the purpose of ensuring food safety for consumers. These may concern microbiological, chemical, allergenic and physical hazards.
In the EU, it is a requirement that companies that handle foods must apply HACCP, with self-assessment, which must also be based on good hygiene practices (GHP). For workwear, this means no external openings (pockets) are permitted above the waist, that pockets on lower parts must be covered and that fastenings must be metal and securely attached (press studs) etc.
