Sustainability strategy

Our job is never done.

We are keenly aware that clothing production, like most human activity, is taking a toll on the planet and we are committed to minimising our impact, without compromising the quality of our garments. That is why always respecting the planet is one of our strategic goals, meaning that it permeates our entire organisation. Every department at Fristads, Kansas and Leijona has clear sustainability targets and is working together to reduce our emissions and close the loop on our production. As a company, we have made a commitment to safeguard the environment both for the present generations and those to come. We don’t believe this work will ever be completely done. But we can reassure you that we are working daily to make our environmental imprint smaller tomorrow than it is today.

– Petra Öberg Gustafsson Managing Director Fristads

At fristads, sustainability is everybody’s business.

Fristads’ environmental work is based on our sustainability strategy, which aims to minimise the negative impact of our operations on the environment and the people who manufacture our products. We have even integrated our sustainability work as a strategic business goal and in our vision, Every professional dressed for a sustainable performance. Since we want our entire organisation to be engaged in our sustainability work, every department at Fristads has its own sustainability goals that are linked to our overall goals and KPIs. Each sustainability target is owned by a person in the organisation and tied to specific actions throughout the year. We also continuously train our employees on sustainability issues relating to our business.

How our departments are making a difference.

“We’ve switched suppliers of packaging and were able to increase recycled plastic from 80% to 100%, while reducing the total amount of plastic in our e-commerce bags by 27%.”

- Anna Svensson, Supplier Manager

“We’ve gone through the whole process of developing a closed-loop product, from collecting used Fristads workwear and recycling it through our certified process, to turning it into new garments. The first circular garments were launched in 2024.”

- Lena Bay Højland, Product Director

“We’ve increased the transparency and visualisation in our design system to make it easier for our team to routinely choose more sustainable materials and trims when they build the products.”

- Anastasios Lappas, Head of Design and Innovation
