Facciamo parte di un settore che deve cambiare. Sebbene sia l'industria che noi abbiamo intrapreso diversi passi nella giusta direzione per ridurre al minimo le nostre emissioni, dobbiamo fare ancora di più.

Oltre al continuo lavoro per ridurre al minimo le nostre emissioni di CO2 del 50% entro il 2030, abbiamo anche deciso di compensare le nostre emissioni di CO2 in relazione alla nostra raccolta esterna.

CONTRIBUTO ALLA CENTRALE BIOMASSA IN INDIA

Una parte del ricavato delle vendite della collezione Outdoor nel 2022 è stata utilizzata per sostenere un progetto in Punjab, India, che trasforma la biomassa in energia. L'energia viene generata dalla combustione di materiale organico come lolla di riso, rifiuti animali, rifiuti di segheria e olio di palma che viene utilizzata dagli impianti di produzione tessile situati nello stesso sito. Il progetto non solo evita l'uso di combustibili fossili, ma offre anche occupazione alle comunità locali e opportunità commerciali per le parti locali interessate. Le riduzioni di emissioni del progetto sono stimate in 582.210 tonnellate di CO2 eq. in un periodo di accredito di 10 anni. Il progetto è elencato sulla piattaforma di compensazione del carbonio delle Nazioni Unite.

Contribution to the development of renewable energy

A portion of the revenue from the sales of the Outdoor collection in 2021 has been used to support a project in southern India that turns waste into energy. In the area, where chicken farming and egg production are common, the tradional open storage of bird litter causes significant environmental and sanitary problems, as well as emissions of harmful methane gases. Thanks to the project, up to 120,000 tonnes of litter and other biomass waste can instead be converted to renewable energy – each year. Additionally, up to 10,000 tonnes of organic fertiliser is produced each year. This will help small local and regional farmers implement sustainable agriculture practices.

In 2020, Fristads prevented 339 tonnes of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere by contributing $5,000 to a program that funds solar water heaters for Indian families. India is a country that is highly dependent on electricity from fossil fuels despite being rich in solar resources. As many as 90 percent of urban residents in western India use electricity to heat water, which not only causes large emissions of carbon dioxide but also contributes to frequent power outages. India has about 300 sunny days per year, but awareness of solar energy in the country is low and many people do not trust non-electric solutions.​​​​​​​

COSÌ CALCOLIAMO IL NOSTRO IMPATTO CLIMATICO:

Dal 2018 calcoliamo il nostro impatto climatico in conformità con il Greenhouse Gas Protocol, aree 1 e 2. Il Greenhouse Gas Protocol è uno dei tanti standard che possono essere utilizzati per calcolare e segnalare le emissioni di gas serra. Le aree 1 e 2 includono, tra l'altro, i nostri consumi energetici, il riscaldamento dei nostri uffici e le emissioni delle auto aziendali. I calcoli climatici Fristads vengono sempre eseguiti con un esperto esterno come revisore. Questo viene fatto per ottenere i numeri più affidabili e precisi possibili.​​​​​​​
