Moving goods the smarter way
We believe logistics is about more than delivering products on time – it’s about delivering them with the least possible environmental impact. With production spanning Asia, Africa, and Europe, transport choices matter. That’s why we prioritise low-impact solutions at every step of the journey. The majority of our goods are shipped by ocean freight to Gothenburg, while products from our European facilities are transported by land. We only use air freight for exceptional circumstances, such as severe delays, and even then, we look for alternatives to keep emissions down. By collaborating closely with both suppliers and freight carriers, we work to optimise container use, avoid partial loads, and consolidate shipments. Every decision adds up to fewer trips, lower emissions, and a logistics chain designed for sustainability.
Our warehouse and distribution centre in Viared, Sweden, is the heart of our logistics network. From this hub, we serve the majority of our European customers, consolidating goods and coordinating shipments to reduce the number of partial deliveries. Centralising flows from multiple production sites gives us greater efficiency, better stock management, and fewer unnecessary transport steps. By partnering with customers to plan weekly shipments and bundle orders, we cut down on the number of journeys and make every delivery count. And, we only work with distributors whose sustainability targets are at least as ambitious as our own.
Between Gothenburg and Viared, Fristads is pioneering the use of High-Capacity Transport (HCT) vehicles. These trucks are significantly longer than regular lorries and can carry two large containers at once. The benefits are clear: fewer trips, less congestion, and lower emissions per cubic metre of cargo. Through partnerships and industry collaborations, we continue to expand the use of HCT, with the long-term vision of handling the majority of transports along this key corridor with these more efficient vehicles. A small but important part of a logistics chain that delivers not only products but also progress towards a lower-carbon future.
