Challenging the status quo

At Fristads, we know that the key to reducing our climate footprint is in the products themselves. Around 98% of our total emissions come from producing our workwear –  from growing or making raw materials to dyeing, finishing, and sewing fabrics. That’s why every fibre, trim, and design decision matters. Of course, the most sustainable garment is the one we don’t have to produce. This is why durability has always been at the heart of our business. We also design smarter  from the start, by challenging every detail at the drawing board and asking ourselves how we can reduce the climate impact and make the garment easier to repair, reuse or recycle . This way, we ensure that sustainability is built in from the very beginning.

Materials that make a difference

Because materials carry the heaviest environmental impact of the product, we are systematically transitioning our product range to more sustainable options – from recycled polyester and organic cotton to circular fibres made from worn-out workwear. At the same time, we stay on top of chemical regulations  and use OEKO-TEX® certification  to ensure that our garments are not only safe for people to use, but also safe for the environment. By increasing the share and sales of products with Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)   – a third-party verified document that measures a garment’s full environmental footprint – we shrink the footprint per garment while lowering emissions across the entire range.

Stronger together

We know we cannot reach our climate targets  alone. That’s why we are intensifying our sustainability work with suppliers – supporting our partner factories in the transition to renewable energy, optimised production processes, and lower energy consumption. We only work with partners that share our ambition and set strong sustainability goals, such as logistics providers powered by renewable energy. Together, we can make sure that every garment we make is part of the solution.
