Turning workwear into new resources
All good things come to an end, even durable workwear. But when garments can no longer be repaired or reused, they still hold value. Through Fristads’ Recycle service, we go the extra mile to ensure that end-of-life workwear is not wasted but transformed into raw materials for other products. With our open-loop recycling flow, used garments are collected and processed into new resources such as insulation for the automotive industry, lining for drainage pipes, or fibre reinforcement in composites. This way, your workwear continues to serve a purpose long after its final day on the job.
Any workwear item – trousers, jackets, sweatshirts, polo shirts, t-shirts, underwear and socks – can be collected for recycling, except garments with coatings or reflective tape. The only requirement is that they are dry and reasonably clean. Garments from brands other than Fristads are also accepted. Once collected, our recycling partners carefully sort, evaluate and process the garments to ensure that as much material as possible is recycled. The share of clothes that is ultimately recycled depends on the demand for the end products, which is standard practice in the textile industry. Items that are not recycled are used for energy recovery, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.
- Collect and pack the garments selected for Recycle.
- Fill out the Recycle form in your ConceptShop or contact our Customer service.
- The packages are picked up and sent to our Recycle partner.
- The garments are processed into fibres and used to make new products or used for energy recovery.
- Receive a report detailing what happened to the material.
As our customer, you don’t just hand over your garments and hope for the best. After processing, you receive a detailed report outlining the total volume collected, the percentage recycled, and how the material was repurposed. This transparency not only supports your sustainability reporting but also demonstrates tangible progress toward your climate goals.
