DRIVING REAL CHANGE FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

The planet is warming, and the clothing industry is part of the problem, accounting for 4-8% of global emissions every year. Workwear is often necessary to protect people at work – but that doesn’t mean our industry gets a pass on climate action. At Fristads, we believe our industry has to do its part to safeguard a livable planet for future generations, and we want to lead the charge for change. We believe climate action must be more than words – it has to be measurable, science-based, and long-term. Our goal is to reduce our CO₂ emissions by 50% by 2030, in line with the UN target to limit global warming to 1.5°C. This target has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) , which confirms that our roadmap is aligned with global climate science and gives us accountability as we put our climate transition plans into action. We are a part of SBTi through our owners Hultafors Group.

MEASURING OUR FOOTPRINT FROM CRADLE TO GRAVE

To take the right actions, we first need to know where our emissions come from. That’s why we measure climate impact across our value chain, from the first stage of production all the way until our garments are worn out and discarded by the user. We follow the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards, reporting across Scope 1 (direct emissions from our operations), Scope 2 (indirect emissions from purchased energy), and Scope 3 (indirect emissions across the value chain, such as raw materials, packaging, and transport). By covering all three scopes, we take responsibility not just for what happens inside our own walls, but for the wider footprint of the partners in our supply chain.

DATA YOU CAN TRUST

Instead of using industry averages and estimates, we collect detailed climate data directly from our suppliers. Much of this is published in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)  for our garments. EPDs provide transparent, third-party verified climate data, allowing us to calculate emissions with greater accuracy. With more and more of our product categories covered by EPDs, our reporting is now based primarily on actual activity data rather than estimates. By grounding our actions in science and data, and by tracking our progress across the entire value chain, we are building a clear and credible path toward a low-carbon future. For us, sustainability is not a side project – it’s an integral part of how we design, produce, and deliver workwear.
