Sustainability strategy

Global climate change and environmental degradation are the challenges of our time and the textile industry needs to do its part to protect the planet. We have set an ambitious goal to cut our emissions of greenhouse gases by 50% by 2030 and we want to lead the change within the clothing industry.

Sustainable products

To compete with quality rather than price has been a key principle for Fristads from the start. For us, making quality garments is the core in our sustainability work. And it all starts with a sustainable product offer and production.

Our own production

Stritex, our factory located in Ukraine, has been in business for 70 years. Since 2001, the factory has produced high-quality workwear and flame-retardant products for Fristads.​​​​​​​

EPD - a new standard

Our ambition to make a difference has led us onto new, unknown paths. Our most comprehensive project so far is without doubt the development of a new standard for measuring the overall environmental impact of a garment, something we were the first in the world to apply to a clothing collection.

Fristads green

Fristads is the first company in the world to measure the environmental impact of clothes. Fristads Green is a concept of workwear where the entire manufacturing chain is characterised by environmental awareness and innovation to minimise the footprint on the environment.

Social compliance

We recognise that our business has an impact on environmental and social aspects far beyond our own immediate operations and we work with long-term suppliers that share the same values.

To reduce the environmental impact connected to our operation we have initiated a number of activities to promote a sustainable development.

Together with selected customers we work on several projects aiming at giving worn out workwear a new purpose and using the resources to their full potential.
