New skarup workwear builds team spirit
When Dutch company EPS Products needed to replace their outdated workwear, they chose Fristad's Skarup concept. Now the entire team, from the forklift drivers to the office workers, has a more coherent, professional look.
“Everyone is very enthusiastic about the new Skarup uniforms. It was definitely an upgrade in terms of material, comfort, fit and overall appearance," said Frank van der Horst of EPS Products.
EPS Products makes customised polystyrene foam blocks that are used for insulation and foundations in buildings and road construction. To make the blocks, EPS Products collects polystyrene foam from municipal recycling centres and recycles it at their production facility in the Dutch city of Goor. Approximately 65 percent of the raw material for the blocks is recycled, a number the company is constantly working to increase, and all waste products from their own production is recycled as well. This makes the company a front runner in circularity in the industry.
EPS Products has been a subsidiary of the Van Nieuwpoort Group since 2008 and has been operating under its current name for two years. Upgrading the workwear was long overdue, according to van der Horst. “The previous clothing no longer matched our current company name or safety requirements, and the fit was outdated. So it was time for a replacement,” he said.
EPS Products purchased the new Skarup uniforms through their supplier, Voskamp Groep, a longtime Fristads partner. “They wanted a striking safety color and a good fit, so I immediately thought of Fristads,” said Erik Lanting of Voskamp Groep. “The Skarup clothing is contemporary and tough and has beautiful, striking yellow accents and reflective details.”
The comfortable materials, contemporary fit and design, as well as the placements of the reflective details were all deciding factors, van der Horst explained. “Our employees tested the clothes for several months before we placed the order, and they were an immediate hit. Everybody is extremely satisfied with their new Skarup workwear from Fristads.”
Currently, 62 employees are wearing the new Skarup company clothing. Everyone, from the office workers to the forklift drivers, has the same fleece jacket and winter jacket, and the production employees and drivers have also received polo shirts, T-shirts, sweaters and long and short trousers. “They’re now clearly visible and recognisable, which ensures a uniform and professional appearance. They’re also well protected against the weather. It’s great to see that our employees enjoy working in the clothing,” said van der Horst.
